- Caroline had five children by Bailey Harmon, divorced Bailey before 1871, and married James Harmon and had 3 more children. It is thought that Bailey and James are related and there is still a mystery as to which children belong to which father. Judge Land lists the children of Caroline as James, Mary, Sarah (Sally), William, Lucy, and Laura. Another researcher in MS lists the children (Bailey's) as James, Mary, Sarah, William, and Sylvester--and Lucy, Laura, and John belong to James (#2 husband).
Caroline was living with her son James Lewis Harmon in Wilmot, Cowley Co., KS, in 1894 in a Cowley Co. census--no other family members in the household.
According to the notes of George Crabtree of AR, Caroline Land's marriage to James S. Harmon was Mar 4, 1872 (While County, IL, records). She filed for a divorce from Bailey Harmon on Jul 13, 1869 in White County, IL.
